K-5 ENGLISH TO SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES PATRICIA SAIN, ESOL TEACHER BS DEGREE-SPANISH - K-12 APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY MASTERS DEGREE-ESOL - K-12 UNC CHARLOTTE What is ESOL? ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES Students in kindergarten, first, and second grade are pulled out of the regular classroom in small groups and receive ESOL instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Third grade receives services in the classroom. Fourth and fifth grade may receive services in the room or be pulled out based on need. NEWS Students have been tested to determine their English language proficiency. Testing took place in February. Test scores were sent to you at the end of the school year. Also, you will be notified if your child has reached a superior rating in all areas and will be exited from the program.
