Language Arts: We have started a new theme called "Give It All You've Got!" which include stories about people who showed courage in the face of a challenge. We will continue to work on our high frequency words for fifth grade. The genre focus at the end will be on poetry.
Mathematics: We are nearing the end of Chapter 11 on addition and subtraction of decimals. Our next chapter will be adding and subtracting fractions. It is key to know your multiplication tables to 12, please practice at home with your children.
Science: We are learning about our oceans, discovering how much human activity can affect the shoreline. We will be testing on this chapter soon. We are also still working on our ITEC projects that deal with weather. We will be done with these by the end of the month.
Social Studies: We are nearing the end of states and capitals study and Unit 1. Our next unit focuses on the early settlement of North America.
