Welcome to another great year at Isenberg!

Language Arts: We have now divided into two reading groups for each class, one group is reading  The Whipping Boy and the other group is reading Shades of Gray.  We will be able to discuss elements found in the novel as it pertains to our skills in the basal.  .

High Frequency Words: As we progress through the year, please review these words and help your child to find them in newspapers, magazines, and books.

Social Studies: We are studying about the beginnings of our country. We are in the middle of learning about the causes and buildup of colonists' feelings at the time of the Revolutionary War.  Students were able to empathize with the colonists after they had to "pay" taxes by the Queen's decree!

Writing: We will begin working on expository writing and essays this month.  In this unit, the importance of catching small moments and turning them into big ideas is important.  Please encourage your child to look at the world around them in a new way.  They never know where the idea may find them!
