"Wild about Learning"

 February

It is February and you know what that means at Hurley. It is Links of Love time! The question everyone is asking is will it be Mrs. Walton or Mrs. Barnes duct taped to the wall.  All the students enjoyed duct taping both of us last year, maybe we will tie again.

February is also "Black History" month and we will once again be recognizing black men and women that have made an impact on the world in a positive way.

February is also "Love the Bus" month. The week of February 13 - 17 is bus driver appreciation week and we will be honoring our drivers. Please join us by maybe giving your driver a thank you card or note, letting them know how much you appreciate them.

Don't forget to have your child compete their "School Wide" Math homework and return it to school every Thursday. This homework is something that the student should be able to do with little help from you, the parent.

Reading is the Door
to the World and Beyond.

Please read daily with your child.

Challenge for every parent.
Make one night a week a quiet night. Turn off the television, the radio, the computer and video games. Make it a night to talk, play board games and read together as a family.

Transportation News

If you have any bus problems or concerns, please call me at 704-639-3038 ext.1008

Thank you for having your students at the bus stop on time. This has allowed the drivers to set their schedule early. Please continue to talk with your student about bus behavior and procedures.

Please remember to send a note / letter if you want your child to get off at a different stop.

Buses are full and only the children assigned to each bus are allowed to ride the bus. In order to be assigned to a bus your house must be on that route.

I realize as the weather gets colder, you want your child to stay inside until they see the bus, but remember they must be at the door ready and waiting. The bus WILL NOT wait for any rider!

Up-Coming Events

Learning is not  Spectator sport!!

We expect all students to do their very best at all times on all assignments.
We expect all teachers to expect nothing but the best from all students and to give all students nothing but their best at all times.
We expect parents to encourage their child or children to do their very best on all assignments all the time and to make sure they are in school every day.
