This year your child is changing classes and needs time to prepare to go to the other classes. We want the students to be relaxed and not rushed as they prepare for the day. ![]() ![]() Everyday your child is expected to read for 30 minutes. It is helpful for you to ask your child questions about what they are reading. You can get ideas from the brochure handed out in the first conference. ![]() Math Please continue to study multiplication facts. These facts were learned in 3rd grade and it will be very helpful to your child when they begin to move on to 2 digit x 1 digit and 2 digit x 2 digit multiplication. I have a few websites at the bottom of this page that work on them. We need to continue working on keywords in word problems and getting rid of the "fluff" to understand what the problem is asking us to do. ![]() Donations are always appreciated. Our class can always use index cards (any size, any color), pencils, erasers, tissues or anything else that you would like to give. Writing I am very excited about writing this year. We have several wonderful writers in the 4th grade. I have been well entertained these first weeks of school with the stories that have been written. We have worked on finding FOCUS in our writing as well as organizing and expanding our stories. I invite you to come in and read the stories in your child's notebook at anytime. Social Studies We have just finished our opening investigation into NC. It was exciting and eye opening to see the students using the internet to explore NC. Many students found out many things about NC through our State Scavenger Hunt. We will continue to use this project throughout the year in order to dig deeper and learn more about our great state. HOMEWORK It is very important that your child does his/her homework each night. Your child will feel prepared for class and will be able to actively participate in each lesson. Please make a quiet, comfortable place for your child to do his/her work each night. PARENTS IT IS ALMOST TIME FOR OUR FIRST CONFERENCE. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SIGN UP AND ATTEND THE CONFERENCE. WE WANT TO WORK WITH YOU TO HELP YOUR CHILD. IT WILL TAKE THE TEACHERS AND THE PARENTS WORKING TOGETHER IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THE BEST EDUCATION POSSIBLE. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS BEFORE OUR CONFERENCE YOU CAN ALWAYS CALL THE SCHOOL, SEND A NOTE OR E-MAIL ME WITH YOUR CONCERNS. |
