Welcome to the 2009 school year. Civics is an EOC class and it is tested at the end of the term. If you listen and cooperate in class you will easily make the required level 3 or better on your Civics EOC test. Law & Justice is a class to prepare you to take civics. Many students are required to take this class before civics. YOU CAN ACCESS THE STUDENT WORKBOOK TO REVIEW EOC INFORMATIOM. IT IS LISTED AS EOC PRACTICE QUESTIONS. *NOTE: CIVICS IS ABOUT THE STUDY of AMERICAN GOVERNMENT and ECONOMICS. ONE SHOULD HAVE A REASONABLE KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONSTITUTION AND THE FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE COURSE. GRADING WILL BE BASED ON DAILY ASSIGNMENTS,QUIZZES,CHAPTER TESTS,CLASS PARTICIPATION and DISCUSSIONS,AND A PORTFOLIO EACH QUARTER. A GOOD WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONSTITUTION IS CRITICAL FOR SUCCESS ON THE EOC.BE FAMILAR WITH THE PREAMBLE, THE ARTICLES, AND MOST OF THE AMENDMENTS. KNOW THE EARLY HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES-COLONIZATION, PRE-COLONIAL, REVOLUTIONARY WAR ERA,and THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CONSTITUTION,. KNOW THE TYPES OF ECONOMIES,THE TYPES OF BUSINESSES, FACTORS OF PRODUCTION, THE LAWS OF SUPPLY and DEMAND, BASIC ECONOMIC INDICATORS, FISCAL and MONETARY POLICY, AND THE IMPORTANCE OF CONSUMER SOVEREIGNITY. DECEMBER 10 AFTER COMPLETION OF THW UNIT ON CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAW WE WILL COVER AN ECONOMICS UNIT.
