Spelling Words: teach sail play mouse which when than please found chase frown train Challenge Words: flyer success supermarket customs fiesta harvest traditions Please continue to work with your child at home with the name of each coin and it's value. Don't forget to bring your library book to school on Tuesdays. Wear tennis shoes on Thursdays. Be sure to read each night! Please listen to your child read four times a week and once over the weekend. Reading skills will be enhanced by reading at home. It is important that your child completes their own homework. Let them write their own stories and sentences. The child does not benefit when he copies what the parent has written. I encourage you to assist and correct, but please let the work be your child's. Parents, make sure your child comes prepared to school. Check over their homework each night. It is very important that your child reads daily. Please ask him/her questions about what they have read to make sure they comprehend what they are reading. Also have him/her retell the story in their words. It truly makes a difference for your child to read at home. Not only does it improve their reading skills, it also helps improve their writing skills. Don't forget to sign your child's reading record and make sure they have two pencils with erasers at school each day. The grading scale for second grade is: 93-100 A 85-92 B 77-84 C 70-76 D Below 70 E |
