(have your child wear tennis shoes to participate), Art on Wed., Library checkout on Thurs., Music on Fri.
Reading this week-How can I use all my reader strategies to help me understand and enjoy what I am reading? Basal selections: Grandpa's Corner Store; Barrio Reading/Spelling list: Vocabulary list: Math this week: How do I use my counting strategies to count and use money in my life? Red words: group 1: help, through review List: *** Note: The study/practice list of words will change during the week. Your child is learning to use concept/spelling patterns rather than memorizing an isolated list of words. Please help your child practice spelling and reading quickly (fluency) the words each day. Words on the Friday test may come from any of the practice words we work on during the week so that students are using and applying the concepts learned. Hopefully, with your support and lots of practice, your child will acquire reading and spelling strategies that he/she can use the rest of his/her life!!! Homework: Monday- Reading- Weekly fluency selection: -- help/listen to your child practice reading this poem many times during the week. He/She needs to know the words, read words in groups, read smoothly and with a rhythm and with expression Language: Write reading list words in ABC order Fluency Folder- This will be discussed & sent home later-- . Keep folder at home and let your child practice each day reading as smoothly as he/she can; adult please sign each day. Help your child recognize all words, see & read words in small groups, pay attention to punctuation, and use his/her voice appropriately for expression--see letter & bookmark in your child's folder. On Friday, I or my assistant will listen to your child read for fluency. Parent HW: read & review all information and homework assignments in your child's agenda. Notice the color your child uses to circle the date. Green reflects a great day- your child has followed directions well, has been respectful to teachers & classmates, your child has been attentive and tried his/her best. Yellow indicates your child has needed reminders from a teacher regarding behavior and choices he/she has made that day; red indicates your child's choices about behavior and work habits have created a problem for his/her learning and that of others in the classroom--please conference with your child about your expectations for his/her behavior and learning at school. Remember , we are teaching together!!!!! --Tuesday-- Language- Write a sentence with vocabulary list words --Wednesday-- Language- Write a rhyming word with reading list words Math- finish math sheet and turn in tomorrow!!!! ***Wed. folder--review your child's work together. Let your child "teach" you what he/she has learned. Help your child correct and/or finish any work that is incomplete. Return your child's work in the Wed. folder tomorrow.
