As January draws to a close, the 100th day of school gets near.  We will celebrate this special day with activities centered around the number 100.  The children have all been practicing counting to 100 and many have succeeded, becoming a member of the "100 Club."  Information will be sent home to parents outlining what we will be doing in the class once we know which day will be day "100."
In math, we will be continuing to practice nonstandard measurement in centers and begin a new unit on calendar skills.  Our reading and science units will be centered around the weather.  The children will be reading weather related literature and conducting experiments during science.  As part of our science unit, we will be making snow, frost, rain and fog in our own classroom!  The children will be keeping a lab notebook of their experiments to practice their writing skills.
As always, homework will reflect the concepts being taught in the classroom.  Please send me an email if you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to volunteer in our class.  We welcome visitors to come experience a day in kindergarten!
