ARE YOU USING THE MATH WEB SITE?? IT'S A GREAT RESOURCE.
Thank you so much for your cooperation in making sure your child comes prepared for class each day. Having their homework is a part of being prepared. I'm concerned about the time put into reading by some of the children. Reading is very important for second graders. We want them to read at least five different days of the week. It's important that you ask your child about what he/she has read. Listen to him/her read. Encourage him/her. We are counting coins in math. This is something you can share as a family activity. Let your child count the change in your pocket or purse. Give him/her a set of coins and ask the amount, etc. We are concentrating on fables in reading. Pull out some of those Aesop fables you enjoyed as a child. Point out the moral and lesson to be learned. Our focus in social studies will be facts about Thanksgiving. Adding details and focusing on one main event will be our focus in writing.
