English for Speakers of Other Languages Ingles Para Hablantes de Otros Idiomas Las clases de ESOL estan diseñadas para proporcionar ayuda a todos aquellos alumnos cuya lengua materna no es el idioma Inglés. La clase de ESOL se enfoca principalmente en ayudar a los estudiantes a desarrollar habilidades y estrategias de aprendizaje que los ayude a facilitar su inmersiónn dentro del salón regular y su transición al idioma Inglés. Las clases de ESOL están ligadas a los temas que se ven en el salón regular y a los estandares académicos de Carolina del Norte. Por favor asista a la escuela regularmente para informarse del avance acedémico de su hijo, NO espere al final del ciclo escolar! Recuerde: * hacer que su hijo/a lea al menos 20 minutos cada día * que su hijo/a se acueste a dormir temprano * a su hijo/a estar preparado para la escuela todos los dias * a su hijo/a hacer y entregar las tareas What is ESOL? English for Speakers of Other Languages ESOL classes are planned to provide help to all those students whose primary language is not English. ESOL classes are mainly focused on helping children to develop learning strategies and skills to ease the regular classroom immersion and make the transition to the English language smoother. ESOL classes are planned according to the regular classroom's lessons and to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Please come to school regularly to learn about your child's academic progress. Do NOT wait until the end of the school year! Remember: * make sure your child reads for 20 minutes every day * make sure your child goes to bed early * make sure your child is ready for school everyday * make sure your child does their homework and turns it in * if you have a question, please write a note, email or call I am looking forward to seeing you at school!! Kindergarten, First and Second grade ESOL students are working very hard this year and it shows! Kindergarten: PLEASE CHECK THEIR AGENDA EVERYDAY! First grade: PLEASE CHECK THEIR AGENDA EVERYDAY! Second grade: PLEASE CHECK THEIR AGENDA EVERYDAY! Third grade: Third grade is using RUNNERS. It will help with their reading comprehension. Students use highlighters as they go through each step. If they do not have a highlighter, they can use their pencil. Please work on RUNNERS with your child. RUNNERS in Spanish is below the English one. Read the title, (and any introduction at the top) look at any graphics or pictures; scan and predict the text type; ask yourself "What is this selection going to be about?" Underline the important key words in the QUESTIONS as you read them Notice any numbered paragraphs in the selection... Now read the selection and as you read... Enclose KEY words and CLUES that can help you find answers. Re-read the questions; mark out incorrect responses. Select the best answer! ***************** Lee el titulo (y cualquier introduccion) observa las graficas o fotos; explora y prdice el tipo de texto, preguntate "¿De que va a tratar este texto?"
