![]() Homework will be sent home on every Monday and should be returned on or before Thursday morning of the same week. Students will receive a reading book, math worksheet and two spelling assignments every Monday. Their classwork will be sent home in Tuesday take home folders. On each Friday, I will staple their Weekly Progress Report in their planner. This report has their behavior, homework, and grades they received for the week. Please sign the report and send it back to school on Mondays. Spelling for the week of Nov. 16th: buzz, across, ball, egg, cross, fell, grass, miss, off, pass, fill, hill, little, well, add, butter, penny, rabbit, shell, stuff, follow, still, small ![]() Math: Students are now study a topic on money. They will be learning the value of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and half-dollars. Students will be adding and subtracting money, creating sets to find the value of a group of coins up to 99 cents, and organize coins to solve problems. Also, students should be studying and memorizing their addition and subtraction math facts to 18. They should be able to do 20 problems in 1 minute. Social Studies: We will be studying a unit of relationships between people and governments. Students will be able to recognize and demonstrate examples of the elective process; evaluate rules and laws; and identify and explain the functions of local governmental bodies and elected officials. Science: We are studying a unit on weather. Students will learn how moving air interacts with objects; describe weather using quantitative measures (temperature, wind direction, wind speed, precipitation); identify and use common tools to measure weather ( wind vane and anemometer, thermometer, rain gauge); and record weather changes over time and relate to time of day and time of year. November Events: Nov. 10th: Report Card Issued Nov. 11th: Holiday-Veteran's Day Nov. 17th: PTA- 2nd Grade Performance Nov. 23rd: Native American Day Nov. 24th: Early Release Day Nov. 25th-27th: Thanksgiving Break Below, I have included web sites to visit that will help your child prepare for third grade.
