![]() Homework will be sent home on every Monday and should be returned on or before Thursday morning of the same week. Students will receive a reading book, math worksheet and two spelling assignments every Monday. Their classwork will be sent home in Tuesday take home folders. On each Friday, I will staple their Weekly Progress Report in their planner. This report has their behavior, homework, and grades they received for the week. Please sign the report and send it back to school on Mondays. Spelling for the week of Mar. 22nd: I'll, we've, I'm, you're, isn't, didn't, you'll, I've, it's, we'll, can't, they're, wouldn't, *H.F. word: little ![]() Language Arts This month students will be reading stories related to family time. The names of the stories are: Brothers and Sisters, Jalapeno Bagels, Carousel, Thunder Cake, More Stories Julian Tells and Slippery Siblings. Students will focus on skills like; making generalizations, following directions, noting details, questioning, predictions, judgements, and making inferences. Your student should be reading nightly and should also have opportunities to read out loud to build fluency. It is just as important that your student is read to on a regular basis which allows them to hear fluent reading.
Writing In writing we continue to work on writing the small moment. The small moment should include a beginning, middle, and end. The students are learning to revise their stories not only to find errors but adding and deleting text. Math We will continue to work on double digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping. The students will also use calculators to check their work. We will begin our study of time. Students should be able to tell time in five and quarter increments. They should also learn about elapsed time. Your student should be studying addition and subtraction math facts that have sums and differences to 18. They should study five to ten minutes nightly. There are many students who have not yet memorized their math facts. This slows them down during daily work. Science We continue to study matter and the changes in the properties of matter.We will conduct experiments to show reversible and irreversible changes in matter. Once we conclude the matter unit we will begin our study on sound.
Social studies We are completing unit 3 on analyzing how individuals, families, and communities are alike and different. In this unit we have studied customs, traditions, and the different roles we play in society. Once we complete unit 3, we will begin learning about economic concepts and resources.
