We are now beginning the second nine weeks. English III - The final draft of the research paper will be due on November 20, 2009. Don't forget that I will be working with you and your parents (If they have questions) on Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 9 - 11. We will be in the media center!! Also, students will be reading Huck Finn, Romantic poetry, and Raisin the Sun. This is great literature that lends itself to some very lively class discussions! Also, we will complete a unit of modern short stories.
English II - We are completing a unit of war literaure by reading All's Quiet on the Western Front and Night. Hopefully, a survivor from a concentration camp will be speaking to us in January. Students in English II are also busy preparing for the North Carolina Writing Test. Each student in a sophomore English class will be taking a local writing test on Wednesday, November 18. All of my students are good writers and should be prepared for this test! As always, I am always availabe for parent conferences! Please do not hestitate to call the school to make an appointment. |
