School Year -- 2011-2012
Title One Teacher: Mr. Doug Byrd Title One Tutor: Mrs. Lorraine Nicely Title One is a federally funded program that provides extra help in Reading and Math during the school day. A school is eligible to be a Title One school if it meets the required number of students receiving free and reduced lunch. Millbridge Elementary is considered a 'Schoolwide' school meaning Title One funds can be used to help the school as a whole. It is an optional program -- parents may choose whether or not they want their child to receive services. Kindergarten through 3rd grade students are recommended for Title One services by their teacher from the previous year. 3rd grade students who score low on the End-of-Grade (EOG) pre-test are also eligible. 4th and 5th grade students can be in Title One if they score low on the EOG the previous year. Our goal is to accelerate the learning process in order to get students up to grade level. We do this by focusing on each individual learner and by using the most up-to-date teaching strategies available. The Title One teacher teaches children in a small group setting for about one-half hour daily. We follow state curriculum guidelines, district benchmarks, and consult with classroom teachers regularly. A student's progess is gauged by several assessment tools, giving us an accurate understanding of your child's weaknesses and strengths. * * * * * * * * Title One District Office Ellis Street Annex Salisbury 704-630-6090 Parent Resource Center Ellis Street Annex Salisbury 704-630-6106 Title One Millbridge Elementary 155 Ed Deal Road China Grove 704-855-5591 Thanks to all who came for our Fall Parent Involvement Workshop "Helping Your Child with Homework"! |
