Homework
*Agendas should be signed and returned daily. Inside your child's agenda you will find homework assignments, daily conduct, and notes from me. You can send me notes in the agenda also.
Monday - Log, Spelling Pyramids, Study Vocab., Reading
Tuesday - Log, Spelling 8 sentences, Study Vocab., Math
Wednesday - Log, Spelling Values, Study Vocab., Reading
Thursday - Log, Spelling 3x Each, Study Vocab., Math
Reading Log - Be sure to read 15-20 minutes each night and answer one of the questions using complete sentences. *Logs must be turned in completed each Friday in order to earn a sticker on our reward chart. *Parents, we are trying to teach your child to be more responsible. Please help us with this by not filling in the log for your child. All you need to write on the log is your name.
*Spelling - Study your spelling words each night to prepare for the test on Friday. Here are some of ways you can study your words: write them over and over, spell them out loud, ask someone to call them out for you, and write sentences using them. Don't just memorize your words in order to pass the test. You need to LEARN them! These are words you will need to be able to spell in the future... not just this week.
*RED Folders go home on Tuesdays and should be signed and returned the following day. Please look at your child's work and talk to them about what they learned. Important papers from the office will also be sent home in this folder. *Please remember to sign & return all tests that are sent home. They will always be found on the return to school side of your child's yellow folder.

How can you help your child at home?
*Talk to your child about what he/she is learning
in school each day.
*Read to and with your child daily! Ask questions when you read. Here are some great questions to ask: Who are the characters in the story? Where is the story taking place? What happened in the begining, middle and end of the story? What was your favorite part and why? What was the problem in the story and how was it solved? What does this story make you think of? Is this book like another book you've read?
**PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE addition & subtraction facts up to 18. These facts are called "snap facts" in class because the students should be able to give the answer as fast as they can snap their fingers. You can practice these in the car if you're short on time!

Please feel free to contact me any time you have a question or concern. Remember, our easiest and most effective way to communicate is through notes in your child's agenda, email or by phone. If you call during the school day please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as I can. Thank you for your support. By working together we can make your child's second grade experience a success!
