Parents get involved and stay involved! Education is a team effort. Do you know your child's teachers? Do you ask your child about his/her homework assignments each night and check it? Have you been to a parent/teacher conference? Are you involved with Shive Elementary School? Have you joined the PTA?

Remember, failure is not an option! Consider the impact of the following practices and commit yourself to practice them everyday:
* Encourage your child to read daily
* Talk with your child
*Monitor homework, monitor TV viewing and video game playing
* Encourage your child to use the library
* Help your child learn to use the internet properly and effectively
* Encourage your child to be responsible and work independently
* Encourage active learning.
Never forget that success does not happen, it is created!

Our mission at Shive Elementary School is to create an effective learning environment that will prepare our students for a successful adult life. Our programs are designed to promoted successful behavior and decision making. Our instructional programs are designed to give them the skills necessary for the challenges of their academic careers and the challenges of their lives. We are focused on the academic success and social development of your children.
