Jackson's Writers
Students will work on writing daily in our classroom using Writer's Workshop. We strive t0 have good 3 paragraph stories.
We edit for punctuation, spelling, capitalization and grammatical errors. We will also work on writing detailed sentences to go with a main idea sentence and a closing sentence. We will practice writing "seed" stories instead of "watermelon" stories as the students learn to focus their ideas on paper. Continue to have your child read stories aloud to you. By having your child do this and by talking to them about the above things, you are helping reinforce these skills!
We will be practicing writing personal narratives as well as imaginative stories this year.

Ready for Reading!
Reading logs will be sent home monthly! Your child is required to read several nights each month for 15 minutes. Return the log at the
end of the month for a grade. Important Reminders
Sign agendas nightly and look for homework. Read for the monthly reading log and return homework daily.
Math drills are daily. Practice those multiplication facts. Each student must make 2 -100s before moving to the next table.

Rowan-Salisbury Policy Reminders Remember to kindly comply with our visitation policies. It is my utmost priority to maintain your child's safety at all times. I must also follow procedure by enforcing these policies. *Any visitor must sign in to the office prior to coming to the classroom and must wear a currently dated visitor's pass.* * Parents must check their child out in the office prior to the child being sent to the office. The student will then be called up by the secretary over the intercom, or a pass will be given to the parent to go to the classroom to pick up the child.* Thank you for your understanding on these issues, and for working with us to help your child have a safe school day!
