7th Grade Language Arts/Reading Welcome Geckos! I am very excited to have each of you in my class this school year. I am looking forward to a wonderful year! Classroom Information Reading is the cornerstone of our language arts classroom. Reading will drive everything we do together. I believe the best gift I can leave you with this school year is a love for reading. Throughout the year I will be helping you find books that are meaningful and interesting to you. Many of your assignments will be based on your independent reading. The best way to be successful this school year is to read every day. Library Information We will visit the library together every two weeks. You are allowed to have up to two books checked out at a time. Our yearly library schedule will be posted here on schoolnotes as soon as it is available. In addition to visiting our school library, I encourage each of you to apply for a local public library card and use it frequently. If you have questions about how to do this then please see me. Upcoming Due Dates Introduction Letter to Mrs. Garrett (August 26) Reading Interest-A-Lyzer (August 27) "What's in my Head?" mini-project (August 31) *remember that this is a quiz grade* Also remember that you must turn in your project rubric with your project.
