What is Enrichment? Enrichment is an exploratory class geared toward using the computer to practice math and reading skills. In addition we will also be doing many classroom activities to supplement what your child is already learning in their regular Language Arts and Math classes. Enrichment is for students of all ability levels. No matter if your child is performing below, at, or above grade level they will benefit from the more individualized instructional setting that my Enrichment class offers. The goal of the Enrichment program here at Corriher-Lipe is to ensure that each student has every opportunity to make personal academic gains and growth during the school year. What will be provided: A folder to be kept in Enrichment Class. All needed materials for daily activities. (Pencils, Colored-Pencils, Markers, Paper, etc.) What you need to bring: Yourself! Please follow the uniform policy. You may bring personal headphones or earbuds for computer lessons, if you choose, otherwise, these will be provided for you. Homework/ Make-up Policy: There is no homework in this class! If you miss a day, you will pick up where you left off. Grading: Your Enrichment grade will be based on daily participation, performance on the Odyssey software program, mini-lessons, and weekly assignments. The majority of your grade is based on effort; therefore, I encourage you to bring willingness to try and an eagerness to learn. ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING! Classroom Expectation: Students will be in the right place at the right time doing the right thing! Respect is a must. MEET MRS. GARRETT Welcome to my Enrichment class. I am glad that you are here. My name is Mrs. Amy Garrett and I am a fully certified Language Arts and Math teacher for grades 6-9th. I am a graduate of Appalachian State University where I received a B.S. in Middle Grades Education. This is my 4th year teaching at Corriher-Lipe Middle School. Prior to teaching in Rowan County, I was a teacher for Durham Public Schools and Watauga County Schools. I married my husband Todd a little over five years ago and we welcomed our first child, Hunter, into our family last October. We are expecting our first little girl, Hannah, this October. The Lord truly has been blessing our little family. I look forward to working with and getting to know you during this school year. |
