Welcome to our Web Page! Mrs Lefko - First Grade Mrs. Pless - assistant ![]() Please check your child's agenda (black notebook) daily for assignment sheet, homework, behavior sheet, vocabulary/spelling words and any other important papers. Please sign behavior sheet daily. ![]() Reading First grade is a very important year for reading. Please be sure your child reads the assigned story and the homework sheet to you at night. The extra help at home always makes for a better reader. When time permits listen to your child read in the extra book they were given. It is OK to tell them words. Remember to send a note with them when they finish it. They will be given another one. ![]() Writing First graders are working on writing complete sentences. We are working on being able to tell where one sentence begins and the next one begins. This a hard concept for them. We are also trying to be much more consistent with capital letters and periods. ![]() MATH First graders need to be able to count and write to 100 by the end of the year. Students should also be able to read number words to 100. Addition and subtraction are a big part of the math program in the first grade. The students really seem to enjoy using the manipulatives that we have. ![]() We hope that you will join together with us to help make this a very successful year for your child. Thank you very much for all of your help and support. |
