Please read carefully and see if you are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Information and/or applications are available in the Guidance Office.
1. National FFA Scholarships. Numerous scholarship opportunities available for FFA members at www.ffa.org. Deadline February 15, 2010.
2. Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. Awards scholarships ranging from $500 to $10,000. Must be the son or daughter of a Marine, Marine Reservist or US Navy Corpsman. Applications available at www.mcsf.org. Applications for the 2010-2011 year will be posted January 2010.
3. Jagannathan Scholarship. Award of $3500 to students who attend a public NC university. Based on financial need, GPA, class rank, SAT and leadership. Applications will be available at www.cfnc.org. Check the website for the deadline.
4. Crumley and Associates – Crib to College Scholarship. Awards five $1,000 scholarships and laptop computers to outstanding seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or better. www.crumleyandassociates.com/crib-to-college.php. Application is available after December 1, 2009 and deadline is March 1, 2010.
5. North Carolina Education Lottery Scholarship. Provides grants ranging from $100 to $2,300. Eligibility is based on the same criteria as the Federal Pell Grant or have an expected family contribution of $5000 or less based on FAFSA. Students must demonstrate financial need. Go to www.cfnc.org. Need based scholarships.
6. NC Student Scholarship/Loan Program for Health, Science and Math. Available to students pursuing a health, science or math related field. Based on major, academic capabilities, and financial need. Listing of eligible fields of study and assistance levels can be found at www.cfnc.org/hsm. Deadline is May 1, 2010.
7. Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship Program. One-time awards of $1,500 to 100 seniors (nationally) who plan to pursue a career in agriculture. Information and application available at www.monsanto.com. Application deadline is February 10, 2010.
8. North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) Clary Medal. A $1,000 award based on athletic participation, extra-curricular activities, and community service. Students must have participated in 2 or more athletic teams. A 2-page essay is required. Application available at www.nchsaa.org. Nomination deadline is February 19, 2010. See Mrs. Beard for further information.
9. Best Buy Scholarship. $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to two students living within 50 miles of each Best Buy store. Nationally 16 students will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Scholarship based on academic achievement and volunteer work. Application available at www.bestbuy.com/scholarships in January 2010.
10. Sam Walton Community Scholarship. www.walmartfoundation.org Deadline is January 29, 2010 for the online submission and mailing of all required documents. No exceptions for late entries.

12. North Carolina Head Start Association Scholarship. Applications available in Guidance. Must have attended a Head Start Program. Deadline for applications is December 18, 2009.
13. SEANC Scholarships. SEANC is an organization of state employees (not the credit union) and students’ parent/guardian must be a member of this group. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline April 15, 2010.
14. Robert Byrd Scholarship. Must have unweighted GPA of 3.5 and at least an 1860 on SAT. See Mrs. Beard if you meet these requirements.
15. KFC Colonel’s Scholars. Online scholarship application will be available from December 1, 2009 to February 10, 2010 at www.kfcscholars.org. Call toll free 1-866-KFC-7240 if you have questions.
16. US JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship Program. Application available in Guidance Office. Postmark deadline is December 31, 2010.
17. Elon University Scholarships. Financial need required. See Mrs. Beard for application.
18. NC National Teenager Scholarship Pageant. To be held March 27, 2010. Entry deadline is February 27, 2010. Go to the website www.ncscnationalteem.com for more details.
19. Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarships. For students interested in history, politics, and government service. Go to www.gwcf.org.
20. Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship. Essay required on specific topic. Applications are in the Guidance Office. Deadline February 5, 2010.
21. Ruckus House Education Scholarship. 3.0 required for students who plan to attend community college or a state university to pursue a career in early childhood, elementary, or special education. Applications are in the Guidance office. Application must be received by the deadline of March 1, 2010.
22. Martha Kirkland West Teaching Scholarship Program. Catawba College for teaching – Go to www.catawba.egu/academy for more information.
23. Millbridge Ruritan Club Scholarship Program. Applications available in Guidance Office. Applications must be received by deadline of April 1, 2010.
