WELCOME TO OUR

         KINDERGARTEN CLASS

 Kindergarten is a time of new beginnings, of making friends, and of learning lots of new things each and every day.  Our days and weeks will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.

Language Arts: We will  focus on one letter each week.  We learn to recognize, write and know the sound that each letter makes in words.                                  

Book and print awareness concepts to point out when reading to your child: Title, front and back of the book, Author, Illustrator,where to begin reading,first word and last word in a sentence ,period, question mark, exclamation mark,and quotation marks.

25 Kindergarten Sight words students must read, spell, and write correctly before completing  the year.

Math: We will focus on the following concepts: Symmetry, equal parts, numbers 11-30.

Science: We will  learn about different types of weather, the five senses and the season of winter.

Writing: We will learn the proper way to print our letters and how to write our first and last name.  We will be writing and illustrating stories in Writer's Workshop.

Reading: We will be reading in our leveled readers and will be sending them home in the blue reading log for students to read to parents.
