Welcome to our Kindergarten class! Ms. Lewis and Mrs. Campbell
Please remember to discuss our classroom rules at home. "Good choices" are discussed often in our room so please encourage "good choices" at home as well. We are learning how to be kind to one another and how to resolve issues/problems with respect and love. Also, please sign the agenda (in the STAR Notebook) daily so we know you are aware of how your child's behavior was each day. Notes from the teacher *Remember show and tell is each Friday and is considered homework *Please send a snack with your child daily
**Items of fun: Busy Bee helpers for the week: Star Student of the week:Citizen of the month: Jakein Happy Birthday this month to...!
We will be reading and comparing stories The Mitten and The Hat this week. These stories are great for role play and sequencing. Letter of the week: Ff Word of the week: from Word family of the week: -it
Important for Kindergarten: BOOK AND PRINT AWARENESS Writing - We have been working on writing a complete sentence with a detailed picture that matches the sentence. Sight words should be spelled correctly, other words should be sounded out, and spaces should be in between each word. Please work with your child at home. Our sight words are also known as "Popcorn Words" because they are popping up all the time in our reading and writing. These words can be found on the word ring and the flashcards link above. The words on the ring with a star are words that each child should be able to read, spell, and write by the end of kindergarten. Words without a star are words that only need to be read. Please practice these and the word family books with your child each night. Practice reading those color and sight (popcorn) words each day! Spelling tests are going well so keep studying! Math
We have been studying numbers 0-20, positional words, and patterns. Be sure to practice counting to 100. Science
Our fun learning about animals continues with polar animals. We will study about various polar animals, their characteristics, and their habitats. Social Studies
As we learn how to make good choices and the importance of rules, we are learning social skills. Our center rotations are good chances to learn how to get along with each other and problem solve.
