Welcome to our schoolnotes page! Here you will see what we are working on, things to practice, strategies for problem solving, tips for test taking, and links to some great sites that will be entertaining, but fun too!
I hope everyone had a nice break, and are ready to come back and get to work! January will be spent with fractions! We will be doing a cooking assignment to show why we need to understand Fractions! We will be continuing our project - Mathematicians Read! This is an ongoing project that incorporates liternature based books to math concpets that we are working with.
January's strategy for problem solving: Decide what the problem is asking. Most problems can be simplified by deciding what you need to know, along with what elements does the problem offer for you to use. Draw a picture, underline key words, circle what the problem asks for. BREAK IT DOWN!
January's Test Taking Tip: Visualize your classroom - sounds crazy right? But trust me it works! Teachers put posters and visuals on the walls because the more you are exposed to them, the more likely you will remember it! So take time to look at the posters and stuff on the walls - when you take a test, close your eyes and "find" the psoter that will help you!
Check out these websites for practice of basic skills and exploration of Math concepts!
