Welcome to 5th Grade Language Arts

Reading: We have been focusing on stories about Nature's Fury. We have read about earthquakes,
tornadoes, and volcanoes. Reading includes learning 
vocabulary words for each selection. This theme has been integrated with our science curriculum.
Spelling: Students are learning high frequency words for our grade level as well as learning words grouped according to sound. 
Grammar: Students are studying the four types of sentences as well as learning parts of speech and how to use them.
Writing: Students enjoyed creating their news page-
"Read All About Me." We have now launched our
Writing Workshop and are learning how to write personal narratives.

Thanks to those who attended our PTA and 
Open House. I hope to see many of you at Community 
Day on Saturday, October 3.
