5th Grade Language Arts I hope everyone is off to a great start in 2010! These frozen temperatures are quite a challenge. We are wrapping up our study on the American Revolution in Reading. This is a period of history that I enjoy, and hope students have too. Our next theme is "Give It All You've Got." We will be reading about people who have shown courage in the face of a challenge. We will be studying both fiction and non-fiction selections. Please encourage your child to continue their independent reading each night. They should be reading 30 minutes as part of their homework. We are also publishing our second personal narrative in writing. After our Writer's Celebration, we will begin studying expository writing (essays). Remember that we have a holiday on Monday, January 18. There are also two teacher workdays scheduled for Thursday, January 21 and Friday, January 22. Report cards will be issued on February 2. |
