Students this semester have all now been given access codes to view their online grades, and all have created accounts for the online textbook. No book has been issued to the students, but all have the link to the online version which is actually better than the printed version in many ways.

A link to a really good site to practice Realidades levels 1 and 2 vocabulary. Great to use for studying for a quiz, or simply reviewing.

Supplies needed:

1. a notebook- either a spiral or 3 ring, in which to take notes
2. an organized way to keep up with handouts- either by using the 3 ring binder, or a folder of some sort
3. ~optional~ index cards, and an index card organizer, like a box or ring to keep them neat and organized. These are for vocabulary words. If you don't use index cards, you'll need to keep vocabulary lists in your notebook. Either way is fine, as long as your vocabulary stays neat, complete, and easily accessible.

Here is one of my favorite quotes. In his characteristic no-nonsense style, John Wayne (in the role of Marine sergeant J. Stryker) gets across the idea that an education is invaluable. 

A key thing to remember: A grade is a reflection of your academic achievement. It is not a gift, a reward, nor is it a punishment. It is nothing more or less than a reflection of the level of achievement. Grades are not based on how much the teacher likes you (or doesn't like you) nor is it based on your social status, your gender, nor your ethnic background. Your grade is what YOU make it.
