This page is where you can find the following assignments for ELA. This web page will be updated weekly so that you can stay on top of your assignments and your child's assignments. This website is currently under construction. Please pardon its appearance as I work to develop a more comprehensive website, including project descriptions, purpose, grading policies and expectations. All class-work becomes homework unless otherwise specified. There are certain assignments that are specifically homework. All assignments are still due on their due dates or the following school day, even if their is a snow day. Certain allowances will be made to accommodate the missed day. The most recent worklists are on the top. Scroll down to see previous worklists. Worklist for March 23 - March 27: 1. Powerpoint Presentations Monday! 2. Group A & B: Interactive Notebook: read The Alchemist pp. 152 - 167. Answer I.N. Pop-Up Questions only. Due 3/27. 3. Group A & B: Alchemist Study Guide: Assigned on 3/24. Due: April 2nd. Exam is on Thursday, April 9. 4. Group A & B: MCAS Study Guide: Check your answers with the Control Packet. Put a star (*) next to any of the question you did not get right or any of the questions you weren’t sure of. Restudy those. Hand in your starred packet by Friday, March 27 for a grade. 5. Group A & B: MCAS writing assignments: Assigned in small group. Follow Mr. S. instructions. This will help prepare you for the MCAS. 6. If you have not completed N-1, N-2, you should also plan to get that done so you are not bogged down. 4. Shelf Work - 2 cursive cards 5. Every day we read The Alchemist, students are responsible for answering in their Interactive Notebook questions 1 through 5 and copying into their notebook any vocabulary put on the board for that day. Homework: Monday 1. Group A & B - read The Alchemist in class. Answer your I.N. questions. We said that if you did not finish you Interactive Notebook questions, including the pop question (Would you go after the treasure? Why or why not?), that it becomes your homework. 2. Have your reading log signed after you read for 30 minutes. Tuesday 1. Read the photocopy of The Alchemist pages 21 - 32. Respond in your Interactive Notebook (I.N.) to your 5 questions. This may replace your 30 minutes of reading tonight in your independent reading ONLY IF you are on pace and can afford to miss a night. 2. Have your reading log signed. Wednesday 1. Journal Prompt: What is your dream? What do you want more than anything else in the whole world. 2. Independent Reading for 30 minutes - have reading log signed. 3. Check your notebooks. Do you have every AIM, activator? Thursday 1. Finish reading Part 1 of The Alchemist tonight using the photocopy. Answer your I.N. questions. Your Interactive Notebook Pop-Question is "What is the conflict / What are the conflicts in The Alchemist?" Remember, a conflict does not have to be an "argument." It can be a challenge or an obstacle the main character has to overcome. Due tomorrow! Pop-Up Questions: 1. Find any vocabulary you do not know. Define. At least 3! Put the page where you found the word next to it. 2. Remember ABSOLUTE LOCATION from the beginning of the year in Mr. Murdock's class? Find the absolute location of the City of Tangier. Locate it on a map or an atlas. Where in Africa is it? North? Southeast? Where?? 3. What are some omens the boy Santiago thinks are omens? Find a line in the text. Define "omen." 4. Draw a picture of Tangier using Santiago's description. Include many details! 2. Because it is so short, this will not take the place of your independent reading tonight. Sorry! Still have to read for 30 minutes and have your reading log signed! :) 3. Have your notebook ready to hand-in by tomorrow! Friday 1. Today with Group A, we will be comparing WEX to the MCAS long composition. Students should finish their essay if they have not finished in class.
