8th grade ELA

Students are given a new vocabulary sheet each Monday.  They should study these words all week.  They will also have to write sentences with certain ones throughout the week.  Check their agenda for specifics.  Each Friday they will have a vocabulary test.  They should also be reading 28,000 words each week.  I grade reading logs on Fridays and put the grade in their log for parents to see and sign.  We are working on finding the simple subject and simple predicate this week.  They should be practicing at home.  They have an English test to complete and get signed by Thursday of this week.  They are also writing a memior that is due Friday.  

7th Grade Math

Students are analyzing data sets and making frequency distribution tables, box and whisker plots, and etc.  Homework assignments will be written in their agendas each day. 

8th grade math

We are working on probability.  They really need to be learning their multiplication tables because 8th grade math will be almost impossible for them if they do not know them.  Please practice with them and make sure they learn them as soon as possible.  They also need to work on simplifying fractions, changing fractions to decimals and percents.  They have also had difficulty with long division.  Please reinforce these skills at home as often as possible.  They will have homework often so please check their agendas each night.  8th grade math is really difficult and it's a lot of material.  Please help me make sure they all are successful this year by making sure they are doing homework, studying, and practicing the skills I mentioned above.  Thanks.
