Welcome back to school!  I am glad to return as your school health nurse.

Kindergarteners arriving to school for the first time?  A kindergarten physical is required, along with up-to-date immunizations(vaccines).  We must have a copy of this within the first 30 days of school according to state law.  If you are having trouble getting an appointment please call me.  I may can help.  The health department offers physicals and vaccines but you must call them for an appointment.

Let me know either at open house or by calling me about your child's special needs.  I want to know so I can alert their teachers and the staff so we can keep them safe and well at school.  Complete the emergency form at the beginning of school and send this back to the teacher.  List any current health problems.  If your child had a croupy cough at 2 months please realize that you do not need to list this for us.  Current asthma requirring treatment is something we should know about, along with other diseases or problems.

Medication forms are available at the front office and trained staff can help you with that if I am not at the school at the time.  All medication requires a permission form from the parent.  Refer to the handbook you will receive for rules about medication.

Let's all stay well by practicing healthy habits. Good hand washing helps prevent the spread of germs.  Snacking on fruits and veggies and getting exercise helps prevent obesity.  Brushing teeth and avoiding sweets helps prevent tooth decay.  Covering coughs and getting the flu shot if advised by your doctor is a great way to avoid sickness.  Healthy children are more receptive to learning.

Again, call or email me with your concerns.  I will get back to you as soon as possible.  Reaching for the stars with the Rockets of Rockwell I join the staff here welcoming you to another successful year of learning.
