Class Plans - January 26-30, 2009

Announcement(s): We will not have W.O.W. this week - let's take a breather!

- Tuesday will be the last day to sign up for Drake's annual Black History Knowledge Bowl. I will provide competitors with study guides and the team competition will begin next week during SSR.

- Parents, please help us with getting donations for the Hoops for Hearts Fundraiser. We are determined to meet our goal!

Monday    Students will:

• Bell Ringer - Recognize and correct grammatical errors in sentences.
• Review and revise persuasive essays. Our focus will be on revising the introductory paragraph.
• Homework: Work on intro revisions.

Tuesday      Students will:

• Bell Ringer - Recognize and correct grammatical errors in sentences.
• Continue revisions. Exchange papers with peers for editing and or evaluation.
• Study and discuss model for an average persuasive essay.

Reminder: BRING GRAMMAR WORKBOOKS TO CLASS TOMORROW!!!!

Wednesday    Students will:

• Bell Ringer - Recognize and correct grammatical errors in sentences.
• Practice using comparative and superlative adjectives and adverbs. Complete workbook lesson 30 (pp. 121-122), lesson 31 (pp. 123-124), lesson 33 (pp. 127-128), and lesson 35 (pp. 131-132) (Students without their workbooks will need to borrow one from the front bottom cabinet. Do not write in borrowed workbook -- use your own paper and record the answers only).
• Begin revising 2nd and 3rd body paragraph. Follow your outlines!

Reminder: Distribute study guides to Knowledge Bowl competitors. Team competition is next Tuesday and Wednesday during SSR.

Thursday          Students will:

• Bell Ringer - Correcting grammatical errors.
• Review and make necessary corrections on workbook lessons.
• Revise 4th body conclusion paragraphs.
• Complete peer reviews.

Friday                Students will:

• Visit computer lab for interactive writing practice. Search Internet for Classrooms.com
