U = Underline the title
N = Now predict the passage
R = Run through and number the paragraphs
A = Are you reading the questions?
A = Are the important words circled?
              (write down their meaning)
V = Venture through the passage
E = Eliminate the obviously wrong answers
L = Let the questions be answered!
     (write the paragraph # and line # where 	you found the answer)

Please encourage your child to use the UNRAAVEL method when they are reading!

Verify =  show me why it's right
Not = no way/no how
Justify = prove it (give reasons)
Distinguish = all the ways they are different
Author's Purpose = why it was written
Conclusion = what was it all about
Classify = Put in the right group
Evidence = Things that prove it

Characteristics = list things about it/tell me all about it

Hopefully, if they are interested, they will read. They may read novels, short stories, articles, cartoons,or comic books. The point is...READ! The more we read the better readers we become!
