Classroom News 

On Friday, February 5th we will have "Football Friday".  Your child will be able to wear his/her favorite football attire.  Look for more  information in your child's planner.

 The Kindergarten "Heart to Heart" day will be on Monday, February 8th.  This exciting day will allow you to participate in daily classroom activities with your child.  You will also learn valuable information about the Standard Course of Study updates and have lunch on us!  Please be sure to RSVP - we are looking forward to having you join us!!!! 

 We will have our Valentine's Day party on Friday, February 12th.  Be on the lookout for a sign up sheet of items to send in or help we may need!

We have a new addition to our classroom family.  His name is "Hermie" and presently he is residing at my house until the weather warms up and the classroom doesn't get so cold on the weekends.  It will be fun to observe him and learn how to care for our new friend!

What we are learning this month:

We will be discussing the Winter Olympics in all of our subject areas this month.  Go USA!!!!!

Reading

This month we will read stories about friendship and the various holidays celebrated in the month of February.  We will continue to work on retelling stories and discussing what happened in the beginning, middle, and end.  We will also work on describing the various characters and settings of each story.

Writing

Writing your first and last name & knowing your name begins with a capital letter followed by lowercase letters

Writing a sentence & knowing that a sentence begins with a capital

 Numbers - 0-20, making equal shares; Geometry - describe how objects are alike and different (size, color, shape, weight, texture), spheres and cubes

12 Powerful Words

Our classroom and school have been discussing 12 Powerful words that will help us be successful in our learning.  Each week we introduce 2 new words and learn how to define and use these words.  Ask your child to sing the "12 Words" song!!!
