Dates to Remember:

November 11th  - No School - Veteran's Day

November 21st to 25th - No School - Thanksgiving Break

Here's what we are studying in our classroom:

FAMILIES

  We will learn how are families are alike and how they are different.  Students will discover family traditions and understand how the way we live has changed over time.

Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving are two holidays that we will discuss.  Children will learn about traditions, symbols, and the the history associated with these holidays.

In math we will continue to work on number skills.  Children will be writing, creating, counting, and comparing numbers 0-10.  

Our reading will focus on connections and using those connections to help understand a story. When you read a book with your child be sure to ask questions (What does this story remind you of?  Have you ever had anything like this happen to you?  What happened next?  What do you think will happen next?).  

As we continue to become excellent writer's we will be focusing on using our sight words to help us write complete sentences.  We want to be sure we are adding punctuation and spaces  - just like great authors do!!!

Our letter and sound study continues to move right along - make sure you are singing "The Alphabet Song" and pointing out letters on signs, labels, etc.  Rhyming is a big focus right now and the children are really enjoying singing nursery rhymes and making up silly word rhymes!
