Dear Jaguar Parents, Students are out of school on November 11 in observance of Veteran's Day. Thanksgiving break is November 25-29. Early release, 12:45, is November 24. The next service club meeting will be on November 19 from 3:15-4:15. We will make posters to collect cell phones and children's books for the battered women's shelter. I am available for after school help on Thursdays from 3:15-4:15. If your child needs to make up work from absences or needs help, please send a note by Thursday morning that your child will stay. In social studies we will begin studying modern Europe including World War I and World War II. Students will be doing research on famous Europeans and turning the research into a Keynote or Pages presentation.. Students are taking Channel One news notes daily and writing higher order thinking questions with the notes. In language arts, we are reading a novel, The Midwife's Apprentice. Students will create a newspaper using the Pages program. Your child needs to read and complete a journal entry each Monday and Wednesday. We are continuing wordskills, grammar, and writing good sentences. We will be writing your child's average for class grades in the organizer approximately every two weeks. Parent report card pick up is Monday, November 9. Further info. will be given later. If you have any concerns, please feel free to call during our planning time which is 12:15-1:30 each day.
