Dear Parents,

     We have the cutest kids in our class! Thank you for sharing them with us! We still have too much talking during class, so please talk with your child about our class and school rules. We realize that it takes some time to settle in to the "groove" of things, but we want every child to do their best and learn as much as they can.

    We are busy working on numbers in math using the concepts of more, less, greater than, less then, fewer, same, equal,greatest and least. It is important that you reinforce the use of the math words that we will be using during the year.We're working with problem solving using different strategies to find the answers to the problems. My goal this year is to use more manipulatives in the classroom to show the students how to solve math concepts.  Please look over your child's daily homework and Friday papers that come home in the red folder.It's always good to go back over sheets and review.

    This month we are enjoying books by Dr. Seuss, Pat Hutchins, Ezra Jack Keats and other author stories. We are studying about safety (home and at school), "All About Me" unit, Fall and our families and maps. Every day we read 1-2 chapters of a Magic Tree House book. Our characters, Jack and Annie, are taking us on "voyages" to many different places that we are writing about and mapping in our special class books.

    Please be sure to help your child with his/her Weekly Words and Math Words each week.They need to know how to read them and sell the Weekly words without looking.We also are working with word families.

    Our lunch time is 11:40-12:05. We would love for you to come and eat with us and get to know your child's classmates.
