Welcome to Grade 5A

Homework for Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009

TOMORROW IS OUR ANNUAL RELIGIOUS RETREAT!  AS I  HAVE BEEN ON THE PLANNING TEAM THIS YEAR, I AM EXCITED ABOUT THE EVENTS AND HOW THEY WILL UNFOLD TOMORROW.

STUDENTS SHOULD WEAR GYM UNIFORMS AND SNEAKERS TOMORROW.  IT IS A FULL DAY, WITH REGULAR DISMISSAL AT 2:45.

English

Finish final draft of Persuasive Essays (Remember to follow format:  5 total paragraphs ... one for the introduction, one for each of your reasons and one for your conclusion.)  Proofread for spelling & grammar, and write final draft on loose leaf paper, with a proper heading.

Math

Finish textbook, p. 55, #1 - 16

Also, have graded tests signed, and make corrections on a separate piece of paper.

Weekly Sheet

Students received a "Cumulative Progress Report" today; please sign and return on Monday.

Homework for Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009

Spelling

Pages are due tomorrow (due to retreat on Friday), Menu assignment is due, and the Spelling test will be tomorrow.

Social Studies

Students must complete a Math problem for Mrs. McCann:

15,000,000 divided by 828,000.  Please show work.

Also, complete worksheet

English

Complete classwork: Workbook, pp. 29 - 30

Science

Textbook, p. 381, in the "Checkpoint" section, answer the "Art in Science" problem ... answer in your tablet

Reading

Quiz (comprehension & vocabulary) on "It's Our World, Too" tomorrow

Math

Complete classwork (textbook, p. 13, all problems)  Also, there will be a Math test tomorrow.


Social Studies

D.A.R. Essay, first draft is due tomorrow

Spelling

Write words 3 and/or 7 times each, based on results of Pre-test.

Homework for Friday, Oct. 30, 2009

Apologies to my students / parents: Due to a death in the family, I was out of school with wakes and funeral, and did not post schoolnotes this week on Wed. or Thurs.  Things should be back to normal next week.

Congrats to Grade 5B, for their outstanding prize winning Halloween door.  Great job!

Don't forget:  "FALL BACK"--- turn the clocks BACK this weekend!
