Please note: The SchoolNotes.com website has been revised. I have more than one webpage now. You should be able to see all of them from the main menu page. When you've finished reading one of the pages, just click the back arrow on your web browser and it will bring you back to the main menu again that shows the other webpages. Thank you for your cooperation. Mrs. Johnston, School Nurse-Teacher NOVEMBER 2011 DearParents, Flu season is approaching. The CDC is recommending flu shots for all children from 6 months to 18 years old. You adults also might want to consider getting a flushot so you will stay well and be able to care for your children. Our schoolflu clinic is at Tiogue on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 4-7 pm. I have an article aboutthe flu and preventative tips on my webpage. I know the weather this fall has been unusually warm, but the winter weather is approaching. Please make sure to dress your children in appropriate clothing for the season. You might also want to consider putting a tube of lip balm in your child's backpack to use for chapped lips during the dry winter weather. It is important to keep the lines ofcommunication open in order to plan for your child’s best health during schoolhours. I would appreciate parents to keep me updated on any changes in yourchild’s physical and mental health during the course of the school year. Thiswould be important to know as far as their safety and well being, and inaddition could also affect their academic functioning as well. Please let me know if they have developedany documented chronic health conditions, like asthma, allergies, etc, startedon certain medications, or if they’ve had recent surgery, injury , illness or emotional stress that could affect themduring the school day. I need to be ableto coordinate this information with the teachers, Gym teacher and recess aidesif needed, to insure that your child functions to the best of his/her ability. Also, please keep us informed of any phone number changes in case we need to contact you. Have a safe and healthy Thanksgiving. Mrs. Johnston, School Nurse-Teacher |
