March 22-26, 2010 Daily Schedule 7:15-7:45 Morning Centers 7:45-7:55 Announcements Attendance/Problem of day 7:55-9:05 Math/Language Arts Block A 9:10-9:55 Specials 10:00-10:50 Math/Language Arts Block B 11:01-11:26 LUNCH 11:30-12:00 RECESS 12:05-12:40 Writing/Science/Social Studies Block A 12:45-1:10 Writing/Science/Social Studies Block B 1:15-2:00 Remediation 2:00-2:15 Review of day/Agendas/Pack-up 2:15 Bus riders dismiss 2:20 Car riders dismiss CURRICULUM NEWS Reading Block: This week in reading students will practice EOG skills using a reading selection called: A Living Room Adventure. We continue to use the UNRAVEL strategy to help them select correct choices. Students will also work in Guided centers this week. They will work on a readers theater with me and use the strategy summarize. Students will use C. Rylant books to read and answer Higher Order Thinking skills. In their writing center students will write about an adventure and the kinds of things you find while exploring the wreckage. We will practice spelling words (week #21) also. Writing: Students will begin to practice cursive writing. We will continue with the letters E, F, G, and H PARENT/GUARDIAN CORNER Please remember to check your students agenda each night and sign it. This is where I will let you know how their day has been and what strip they ended the day on. I may write you a note and this is a great place for you to write me or paperclip a note for me. I check agendas daily. We are also low on these classroom essentials. If you can help us out, please send after the holidays:

Weekly spelling words Week # 21 snap honk crackle clank rustle crunch clink sizzle clunk whoosh gurgle smack creak clatter slurp boom rattle thump splash kerplunk Dates to look forward to: March 26: Spell- a- thon money due March 29: PTA meeting at 6:30 April 1: Early Release at 11:30 April 2: NO SCHOOL: GOOD FRIDAY April 5-7: SPRING BREAK ** Students are in school on April 8 & 9. These are SNOW make-up days!!!!! Remediation Block Beginning on Monday, Feb. 8 we will begin 45 minutes of Remediation for reading and math. There will also be a block of enhancements for those students who need it. The students will work in small groups to target specific skills and EOG practice questions for reading and math. We know with our team pulling together and planning enrichment activities for our students we will see growth in reading and math. Updates On RSS Websites Here is a new update on the RSS Website.
