Mrs. Mullinax's Classroom News!!!! November 9-13 CURRICULUM NEWS Reading Block: In Reading block this week students will read the selection: Mirette On The High Wire by Emily McCully. Students will learn about making evaluations. We will use examples of real live situations that require students to make a judgement. In guided centers this week, they will practice writing good beginnings, use Mark Teague books/leveled readers for Higher Order Thinking Skills, and Spelling activities with Week 9 words. Writing: In Writing Workshop this week the students will continue working on beginnings. They will use many different choices of books and identify the author's strategy for writing a beginning. Students will practice using different strategies as they write their own beginnings. We will also begin working on the county assessment for 2nd quarter. It is a content specific activity which means the students will be given a specific task and they will conduct research on it in Social Studies. In Writing Workshop I will guide them through the process of writing a paper with a beginning, middle with 3 actions, and a conclusion. PARENT/GUARDIAN CORNER Please remember to check your students agenda each night and sign it. This is where I will let you know how their day has been and what strip they ended the day on. I may write you a note and this is a great place for you to write me or paperclip a note for me. I check agendas daily. Please check my website weekly. I will post homework, spelling words, curriculum we will study, and field trip information. This is also a way you can contact me. I will e-mail you back after school hours. CLASS WISH LIST This is optional, but here are a few items we need in our classroom. Please feel free to purchase more than one item.
