Mrs. Sharkey's KINDERGARTEN-- Welcome!!! We have been learning all about pumpkins this weekl in our classroom! We visited Patterson Farm on Friday, and students were able to take home a real pumpkin. We have learned so much and are working hard every day. Next week is Fire Safety Week in Kindergarten. We will learn how to be safe and get out of buildings safely, how to call 9-1-1, and all about fire fighters. Students will learn a lot of new vocabulary and math skills as well as do some writing with this theme. On Wednesday we will meet a real firefighter in our CGE library! We are learning 5 songs/fingerplays for Halloween, and will perform these on October 20 at the China Grove Community Center for our local senior citizens. **Please check your child's agenda EVERY DAY for behavior information, homework assignments and/or notes from the teacher. Be sure to SIGN your child's agenda EVERY DAY as well. **Be sure that you read with your child at least twenty minutes every night, including twenty minutes sometime during each weekend. Please SIGN your child's READING LOG every time your child reads for a 20 minute period. The READING LOG is located in the dark pink folder that comes home every day. **Be on the lookout for your child's "Tuesday Folder". It will be a red folder that will come home every Tuesday with your child's completed work & other important things. Please SIGN off on the sheet in the Tuesday Folder each week and return it to school the very next day. *DON'T FORGET: We have Show-n-Tell every Friday and your child can buy ice cream or a cookie every Friday in the cafeteria. ***UPCOMING AREAS OF STUDY*** -bats and spiders -Halloween -recognizing and counting numbers 0-5 -continuing to recognize and identify the parts of a book -continuing to meet "Letterland" characters and learn new letter sounds -continuing to practice writing our names correctly **Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have, or concerns.
