Mrs. Sharkey's 4th Grade-- Welcome We are off to a great start this 1st quarter! Students are learning so much! Here are some specific curriculum areas being taught/reviewed as we make our way through this very busy beginning quarter. Math: number sense: place value, rounding, multiplication facts, adding and subtracting 2 and 3 digit numbers, and fractions SCIENCE: animal adaptations and ecosystems SOCIAL STUDIES: NC symbols, using maps/globes to locate our state and country, regions of the US, regions of NC READING: building comprehension skills and reading strategies through guided reading groups, whole group discussion, written summaries, and using various hands-on activities WRITING: continued study and practice of Writer's Workshop--content based writing: prewriting/brainstorming, drafting, revising/editing, and publishing **Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have, or concerns.
