MONDAY (1/5/09):  Teacher Retreat

TUESDAY (1/6/09):  Classes resume.  Students will view power point on the English Civil War, the Restoration, and the Glorious Revolution.  Attention must be paid to the causes of the events, major players, and results for each.  HOMEWORK:  Read pp. 478 - 484 and take notes in their spiral notebooks.  On the left hand side students will have 3 outlines with the title of the event and underneath the questions:  who, what, when, where, how, why.  On the right hand side, students will write down the answers to these questions.

WEDNESDAY (1/7):  Early Dismissal.  Students will need to present the textbook issued to them as their first homework assignment.  Their book number must match with their teacher's records in order to score 100%.  Class will read about Thomas Hobbes and John Locke, English philosophers who presented two opposing views of human nature and government's role in society.  HOMEWORK:  finish reading section 20.2 (pp. 485 - 489) and take notes on how each philosopher viewed human nature and what they believed the role of government should be, and what should happen to a government that does not fulfill its responsibilities.

THURSDAY (1/8):  Report Card Night.  Using their textbook, the students will define the key terms for sections 20.1 and 20.2.  The work is due at the end of the period.  Vocabularies not turned in today will be considered late, no exceptions.

FRIDAY (1/9):  Students will view mini power on the British Empire that began in the 17th century and lasted until after WWII.  Attention must be paid to how it was created, its 2 main purposes and how mercantilism functioned.  HOMEWORK:  study for Ch. 20 test (sections 20.1, 20.2, and 20.3) scheduled for Tuesday, 1/13/09.
