Dear Second Graders and Family,

Summer is winding down and the new school year is about to begin.  I am looking forward to a fresh, new year for 2009-10. I hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer holiday.

HOMEWORK: Each night we have an assignment in spelling, reading and math for homework. This should only take about 30-45 minutes. It is very important that we all work together to reach the goals.

Homework for Mondays that we do not have school will be given on the previous Friday to ensure everyone has their spelling words.Your child is responsible for copying the words from the chart and/or board each Monday morning.

Monday: Math practice. Use half of the word list in a separate sentence for each word. Read 20 minutes and record it in the log.

Tuesday: Math practice. Use all of the words to make an ABC order list. Read 20 minutes and record it.

Wednesday: Math practice. Use the other half of the word list to make a separate sentence for each word. Read 20 minutes and record it.

Thursday: Practice each spelling word 4 times each. Read 20 minutes and record in reading log.
Friday: Some time over the weekend read 30 minutes and record in reading log.
