MUSIC NOTES

Greetings All!

This year is really flying by quickly! It is time to begin the 3rd quarter of our school year and we have lots of music making activities planned.

The Kindergarten classes will be performing on the April PTA night. They are going to present a presentation on Nursery rhymes, with singing, recitations and drama.

The 1st through 3rd grade classes are leaning more about rhythm and will learn about composition with rhythm components.

Our 4th Grades are going to learn to play the recorder. A note will go home soon about the cost and the deadline for ordering a recorder. We have recorders for loan at school, but I have found that students do much better when they have their own instruments.

Our 5th Grade classes are working on a composition unit this quarter. They will choose a business and write an advertising jingle for their company. When they have composed their jingle, they will be videotaped and critiqued by their teachers and peers. It should prove to be a lot of fun.
