4th Quarter!
Period 1: Physical and Earth Science, Honors
- Due Tuesday, May 29th: Straw rocket Lab report
1. Explain and show sample calculations for the determination of muzzle velocity
2. Graph drop height vs. distance for all groups. Insert a trend line with equation and R^2 value for your group's data.
3. Use your trend line to determine the drop height needed to hit targets at 1 m, 2 m, 3 m, and 4 m when the rocket is launched horizontally. Show a set of sample calculations.
4. Discuss how well your data fit the trend line calculated by Excel. Test your predictions and compare your predictions to the actual distance traveled when launched from the drop heights calculated in the previous questions.
5. Graph drop height vs. muzzle velocity for your group. Add a trend line with the equation. If you shoot your rocket straight up, what drop height do you need to in order to reach a height of 1.5m and 2.5 m? Show calculations.
6. Test your predictions from question 5.
