****I just wanted to tell you this site is quite the entertainment lately, so please know I try to update it daily, but it doesn't always agree with me. I have emailed the site manager several times and they are working on the glitches. Please email me if there is something you really need and can't find it on here.

 

Hi there! 

    Welcome to the 12th week of school.  We are continuing our new unit "Dollars and Sense."  We will be reading many different stories that focus on the art of running or creating a business. 

 

      Please visit Schoolnotes.com often. It will have helpful reminders of the week's homework as well as daily updates. For language arts this week:(11-16)
We will:  
*Read two-syllable words. .
*Be reading "Business is looking up" throughout the week.
*Understand the selection vocabulary before reading.
*Use the comprehension strategies making connections, and summarizing.  
*Use the comprehension skill Author's Point of View and Compare and Contrast.
*Develop an understanding of vowel sounds in two-syllable words.
*Develop fluency reading words and sentences.



For spelling this week:
This week we will be focusing on two syllable words.  Every week there will be 20 regular words and 5 challenge words. There will also be a bonus word every week as well. This week's bonus word will be frigid. 



For math this week:
We will: 

*Explore line graph
*Determine whether expressions are equivalent

*Evaluate algebraic expressions and equations.



For social studies this week: (Cardenas' Class)

For science this week: (Merrill homeroom)

*Continue our unit on cells and classification.

*Discover the six attributes of living things

*Classify organisms by observable features

Tonight's homework

Math I-  activity - very quick

Math II- activity -list as many possible ways you can make the expression true. Use your notes from class.

Language Arts/writing - none

Monday: 
Utilize 15 words in 15 interesting sentences without using “I” in them.  Read 20 min. Record in log. Be sure to get your assignment book signed everyday this week.

Tuesday:  
Define your challenge words and complete vocabulary diagram in your writing/vocabulary section of your binder. (This means to locate a challenge word’s definition in the dictionary and then fill out the vocabulary sheet, as well as draw an illustration, a synonym and an antonym. Use your example) Read for 20 min. Fill out reading log.

Don’t forget…cell project is due tomorrow!

Wednesday:

Complete activity given out in class. Read this week’s story to someone aloud for 20 min. Ask the person you read aloud to initial your assignment book when finished. Don’t forget to record it in your log. Don’t forget LONG TERM IS DUE TOMORROW! (Packet too)
               

 Thursday:
Have someone exceptional give you a pre-test. :) Write words missed three times each. (This means if you spelled a word wrong, then write it out three times on a piece of paper.) Read for 20 min. Record in log. Don’t forget to get log signed.


Friday:
Have a thankful week off with family and friends!


Reading - Read for 20 minutes and have your parent or guardian sign your reading log. If you lose your log, have a piece of paper ready to hand in with when you read, what you read and how long on it with a signature. DUE ON MONDAYS!


WEDNESDAY night is read aloud. Be sure to read to someone human and have them sign your agenda book.

Social Studies: none

 

Science - Cell project and quiz on classification on Friday.





***If you use a homework pass, it will not count for pictures, with questions, long terms, or special assignments.(The students know this)

* Reading logs are due in on Monday of every week. These are the logs that come home on Monday that each child has to record what they read and have signed by the parent on a daily basis. Every fourth grader is responsible for reading 20 min a night.

*Treats for Mr. Pepe Pig would be most appreciated, for he loves to eat.  He loves celery, carrots and romaine lettuce. Please no ice berg, it will make him sick. Thank you for loving out pig.

* I contacted all parents for conferences. If you have not heard from me, please call me or email me as soon as you can.  Thank you so much for all the support you have shown me this year.

 

*You're wonderful children has achieved their goal of getting 300 compliment points and for that have been awarded a party to celebrate!!! I am very proud of them! They get these points by being bucket fillers throughout the building, when they are in cultural arts, when they bring in their homework, when they do something for someone else, acts of kindness etc.  We voted on Monday and had a P.J. Donut party on Wednesday morning. 

 

*Have a fabulous holiday and I look forward to seeing all of you at conferences.

*All graded work will be coming home on Mondays. If there are assignments that need to be re-done or a test that needs to be re-taken, please ask your child to re-do it if it is classwork, and if it is a test, to sign it and then send it back to school. We will then work on it together at recess or another free time during the day to correct the mistakes or I will have your child re-take the test on another date. 
 
*Every night, please initial the assignment book noting that you are aware that all homework was completed and also if you could kindly remind your child to put their name on their paper.
