We are busy finishing a science unit focusing on Weather. We have a weather station in our class that students will be using throughout the school year. For a final assignment each student needs to complete a weather report which is due on Monday, October 19th. The students are working in pairs completing their research but need to hand in their own assignment. There are three parts to the assignment: written report about a severe weather system/storm, attach a related news story and build a weather instrument that could be used to detect their storm. The students have many ideas about their instruments but have been asked to keep them very simple. I have several examples if the students are stuck or they may look on the internet. A great site for weather information or weather instrument information is weatherwizkids. Environment Canada and The Weather Network have weather information and links.
