Wednesday, November 4th

Hi,

Forms for the H1N1 immunization were sent home today. The forms need to be returned to school tomorrow, Thursday whether or not you are consenting to the immunization. Immunizations are planned to begin next week at school.

On Monday, November 9th we will have a guest from the Burrowing Owl organization along with a Burrowing Owl. The visit supports our Diversity of Living Things unit in Science.

Our Remembrance Day Assembly is on Tuesday, November 10th at 2:30 pm. Parents and guests are welcome to attend.

There is no school for students on Remembrance day,  Wednesday, November 11th. Students will be back at school Thursday and Friday.

Thank you for the parents and grand parents who sent baking for our bake sale. The bake sale along with the grade 7&8 hot chocolate sale and the hot dog lunch  have allowed us to start saving for our Outdoor School next June.

Take care,
Ms. B

Tuesday, October 13

Hi everyone,
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. We are busy finishing a science unit focusing on Weather. We have a weather station in our class that students will be using throughout the school year. For a final assignment each student needs to complete a weather report which is due on Monday, October 19th. The students are working in pairs completing their research but need to hand in their own assignment. There are three parts to the assignment: written report about a severe weather system/storm, attach a related news story and build a weather instrument that could be used to detect their storm. The students have many ideas about their instruments but have been asked to keep them very simple. I have several examples if the students are stuck or they may look on the internet.

A great site for weather information or weather instrument information is weatherwizkids. Environment Canada and The Weather Network have weather information and links.
