PASS Testing:

- Primarily, we will continue learning material from the course 2 book in all classes. We've covered and recovered all of the 6th grade standards. The kids will do very well on the PASS test.

- There will be no homework on days where the students have a PASS test the next day.

- Food in class: My homeroom can bring a snack / drink for after the pass test. Unfortunately, this does not apply to all classes :0(

Food In Class:

Last week you signed a form about special days and food in class. I had a huge response!! The special class days will not be until the last week of school. I will attempt to contact parents by the end of this week regarding what can be brought in for these special days.

Final Exam:

The final exam will have two parts.

The first part is a timed test. Students will either memorize their 13-16 facts and take a timed (6 minute) test. The other option is 35 common conversions (1 inch = 2.54 cm; 1 gallon = 16 cups). Copies of both options will be available to students and the copy we practice on will be identical to the final test. Also, students will be able to take the test on May 11, May 18, and during the final exam day. They only have to pass part 1 one time. For example, if they pass on May 11, they will not have to retake this part of the exam ever again.

Part 2: Very important: Kids cannot take part 2 of the exam until they pass part 1. Part 2 of the exam is a performance assessment where kids will form groups of their choosing and complete a task in class. There is no possible way to prepare for the exam. As long as the student works hard and turns in their work, they will receive full credit. Although students will be in a group, they will receive their own personal grade for their part of the work.
