Week of November 4, 2008

Silver/Gold

The students received their packets and vocabulary assignments on Monday/Tuesday and were given 45 minutes in class to complete the "homework" at school.  We will be working on grammatical skills during the week.  The spelling/definitions tests will be on Thursday and Friday.

The students were given a project on Monday/Tuesday that will be due on November 17 or 18 (Monday/Tuesday).

The project is to create an original product to sell to the class.  This follows up the persuasion unit.  The student will have to present the product as a commercial before the class.  They also will turn in a written paper in script or narrative format with the style of persuasion they used (testimonial or bandwagon).  This project should be a stress-free one.  They should have fun with it!  :)

Week of December 8/ Week of December 15

GO DOLPHINS! GO DOLPHINS!  GO DOLPHINS!  GO DOLPHINS!  GO DOLPHINS!

The students do not have a packet this week or next week or ever again!  They do not have a vocabulary assignment this week or next week, but will begin those assignments again upon return from the Christmas Break!

We are continuing to work on a poetry unit in class.  If your child is not getting done each day with the assigned work then they may need to finish up at home, but they do not have assigned homework.

There will be a poetry memorization assignment when we get back.  I will let them choose the poem they want to memorize and recite in class before we leave for the break.
