WELCOME TO BUSINESS & COMPUTER SCIENCE!

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The essential concept of this course is to introduce students to the basic skills associated with word processing and presentation software and productivity. Students will review and continue to refine their keyboarding skills. Students will gain greater understanding and application of word processing, desktop publishing and presentation software features to integrate with their core content courses and real world simulation activities.

 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

All coursework will be completed during the schedule period. No keyboarding assignments may be finished at home. Students are expected to attend class daily in order to be successful. Learners must build on skills learned and practiced during day-to-day planned activities.

 

MATERIALS:

Students will maintain a separate notebook for this class. I prefer a notebook that allows student to slide a sheet of paper on the side.

  1. 1” Notebook or Pocket Folder
  2. Notebook Paper
  3. #2 Lead Pencils (2)

GRADING POLICY:

 

Daily Journaling          25%

Current Events             15%

Classwork                       35%

Participation                 25%

 

It is the STUDENT’S responsibility to make up any missed assignments. 

They are working on the following standards:

MSBCS-BCSI-1:  Students will identify computer system components.

MSBCS-BCSI-4:  Students will develop keyboarding skills by touch with speed and accuracy.

MSBCS-BCSII-1:  Students will reinforce keyboarding techniques.

Things to remember:

 

• Keep your back straight

• Keep your fingers curved

• Keep the heels of your hands off the keyboard

• Keep your eyes on the monitor, not the keyboard

• Keep your fingertips on the home row 

• Use quick, snappy strokes
