The TYPE-IT program is under way and will be an on-going monthly assignment for students in grades 4-8.

Type-It Calendars turn in dates for 2009-2010

November:  due week of December 1-4
December:  due week of January 4-8
January:  due week of February 1-5
February:  due week of March 1-5
March:  due week of March 29-April 9 (turn in time extended due to Easter break)
April:  due week of May 3-7

Each student will receive a calendar for the month on which to record each day he/she practices typing at home for at least 15 minutes.  Homework completed using the computer may count as "practice" as long as proper keyboard positioning is being used.

The purpose of the program is to encourage proper keyboard positioning each and every time a keyboard is used to build skills and speed.  Periodically, students will take typing quizzes to determine how close they are to meeting the class goal and to prepare themselves for the final typing test in May.  The class goals are as follows:

8th grade:  50 wpm/93% accuracy
7th grade:  40 wpm/93% accuracy
6th grade:  30 wpm/93% accuracy
5
th grade:  20 wpm/93% accuracy
4th grade:  10 wpm/93% accuracy

This website is devoted to
providing students with fun and challenging opportunities for typing practice and tutorials.

Remember,
practice makes perfect
so use proper positioning
EACH and EVERY time
you are at a computer to
reinforce those hard-earned skills!!

Have fun!
