Anti-Bullying Program – Presented after each of the Friday Masses

Ms. Shick and I will be presenting an “Anti-Bullying Program” after each of the Friday Masses.  Some of the activities include role-playing, journaling, and group discussion.  Providence Heights Alpha School is committed to providing an environment free of bullying and harassment to any child.

Activities:

11/6/09 – The fourth grade discussed how bullying situations should be handled.

As typical situations were brought up, the children discussed what they would do in that

situation.  The teachers emphasized that adults need to be made aware of any situation

where the children feel uncomfortable or feel as if they are being bullied.

       10/30/09 – Halloween party

10/23/09 - The 4th grade discussed examples of bullying and appropriate responses to those

situations.  The difference between telling & tattling was also addressed.  In addition, students

completed the 10/23 bullying survey, noting any positive/negative interactions with classmates

during the week.

10/2/2009 – The class discussed each other’s positive characteristics and filled

out a list of what they personally like about themselves.

9/25/09 The 4th Graders discussed being Provident Peacemakers.

Students participated in an activity which highlighted each child's

      special gifts, talents, and personality.

9/18/09 The 4th Graders completed surveys regarding bullying.

These surveys will be helpful in guiding future anti-bullying topics.

9/11/09 The 4th Grade began the Anti-Bullying Program.

     *The students:  *defined bullying.

*discussed that bullying can occur in various forms,

hurting a person's body, feelings, or property.

                              *resolved to be Provident Peacemakers.
