 WEEKLY NEWS AND LESSON PLANS

 Week of November 9-13

Theme: "Thanksgiving"

"Pilgrims and Indians"

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NOVEMBER STUDENT OF THE MONTH !

KAMBRY SCRUGGS

Dear Family,

Thanks for your help in donating baked goods, caramel apples, and volunteering your time to work at the first grade booths for the SES Fall Festival last Friday night.  I appreciate you!  I would like to extend a "special" thanks to Erin and Chad Lynn for volunteering to be our first grade BEES parents who organized our booths, sent notes home,  and made numerous calls for volunteer parents to work in our booths on fall festival night.  You are very much appreciated!

We will continue reading in Book 3, the story "Greg's Mask" pages 41-63.  Please listen to your child read the basal story each night as part of his/her 20 minutes of reading.  Don't forget to sign or initial the reading homework chart  each night in the homework folder. Your child will have his/her story selection assessment on Thursday.   Study the highlighted basal and Saxon sight words listed in your child's folder.  It would be very helpful if you would make sight word flash cards for your child.  As we complete each list of sight words, your child will be orally tested on these words.

We will continue Spelling List 10 this week.  Your child will have a practice assessment on Wednesday and the retake assessment on Friday.  If your child has a perfect paper on the spelling words and/or sentence dictations, he/she will not have to retake it on Friday.  The words are getting progressively harder so make sure and study the words and dictations daily.

If you ever have any questions concerning your child's progress, please feel free to call the elementary school office (601-758-4289) to schedule a conference. I have specific conference times each day. You can also email me from this website or to my Lamar County School District address at www.teresa.hudson@lamarcountyschools.org.

Thanks for your support at Sumrall Elementary School. Remember our motto: LEARNING TAKES THREE: PARENT,TEACHER, AND ME !

Sincerely,

Teresa Hudson
