Welcome to Ms. Jones' Social Studies 6 class! Students need a one-subject spiral notebook and should have a glue stick in their pencil pouch in order to put handouts in the notebook. HISTORY DAY PROJECTS... All students at Marley Middle are participating in History Day this spring, which means they have selected a topic to research and will prepare a project about that topic. To open or download the same information that was handed to students in class, click on the link under "Downloads" (above) called "History Day." We spent four days in December doing research in the Media Center and Computer Lab, and students are encouraged to do additional research at home or at the library. We worked on creating thesis statements after the midterm exam in January. Students should be putting projects together in February. Extra help is available on Tuesdays after school with Ms. Jones, or talk to the ladies in the Media Center about going there during lunch or after school. All History Day projects are due by Friday 2 March. Homework Monday 2/6 - Complete classwork chart about Ghana, using evidence from World History pages 386-388 to prove statements true or false Tuesday 2/7 - Continue working on History Day projects. Complete classwork if necessary (illustrating three causes of the decline of Ghana - use the handout; read p. 388-389) Wednesday 2/8 to Friday 2/10 - Continue working on History Day projects.
