Dear Parents,

   It was a pleasure to see all of you at the Open House. The children were so proud to show their work and to show you around 'their' school. They were eagerly sharing stories of selected books, ice cream treats and seeing their friends. Thanks to the parents who so generously donated books to our classroom libraries! Most importantly, thank you for choosing St. Louise de Marillac School for your children.

                                             QUICK  NOTES

* Just a reminder: children should be working on signing their valentines and decorating their valentine boxes. Please remember, only the back of the valentines should be signed - there should be no names on the envelopes. Please place all valentines to be passed out in a separate bag and do NOT place them inside the valentine box. All valentine boxes should have a slit or a lid so the children will be able to insert the cards into the boxes. Boxes and cards should be brought to school on Thursday, February 11 for our classroom celebration. Thanks for your help!

* Please check your child's folder each day. Many children are coming to school with papers form the previous day's work still in their folders. This becomes very confusing for them and they are turning in papers for a second and/or third time. Only the book reading sheets may be left in the folders on a daily basis. Chicking your child's folder each day also show them that you are very interested in their work, along with helping them to develop responsibility.

* Please continue to practice shoe tying with your child.

* A huge THANK YOU to all parents who have been completing the reading record sheets with your children. We do understand that it's not always easy to take the time in your busy day to read and then 'look for that piece of paper' to fill in, but the benefits to your child are immesurable! Along with teaching your child the love of reading, you are contributing to their sense of responsibility.

* Another huge THANK YOU to all the parents who so kindly came in to visit our classrooms for Catholic Schools Week! The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to the stories read, finding out about various occupations/ hobbies, completing the various crafts, and even getting some 'take home' items!

* Monday, February 15 is a snow make-up day . . . school will be in session.
